Are there any fish that fit into an amazon themed aquarium AND a 36 gallon tank other than dwarf cichlids, tetras, cories, plecos, or otos? (i dont want an angelfish tank, i perfer blue rams and other dwarf cichlids)

can you keep angelfish with dwarf cichlids? i thiught you couldnt but now i see posts of ppl keeping them together and im not sure...

It really depends on what dwarf cichlids you want,

Im sure 2 Blue Rams (Male Female) and Angel Fish would work but be careful if you want to have more than 2 Blue Rams get 1 male and 2 females but I would stick with 2

thanks, could i get a rams anda pair of angelfish, or should the anglefish be the only of its kind? I know cichlids get aggressive when breeding and i dont want liitle murdering fish

I successfully kept angels and dwarfs together for a long time In a 36 gallon, I would go with a single angel and a pair of rams. Angels tend to get nasty when they are breeding, and in a 36 gallon there wouldn't be anywhere for the other fish to go. I would also add a school of cories and a school of tetras. Also, I don't know if you like them, but keyholes are great smaller SA cichlids. They aren't as brightly colored, but they make up for it with their behavior. They get along great with almost anything. Mine were my first cichlids and they are still some of my favorites

hmm..i do like the keyhole cichlid as a main showcase of the tank. But i also like dwarf cichlids. ive never liked angels alot so that makes stocking a little easier.will keyholes attack dwarf cichlids? But if i got a pair and they bred, no one would have anywhere else to go? AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Hi Pugs, I keep a pair of Angels with a pair of Kribs in a 40gal with no troubles at all. ( Kribs are African Cichlids though). A good idea for a Dwarf Cichlid from S America might be one of the Apistos. I keep a pair of Dwarf Borellis in my nanocube with my show Guppies, they are great little fish and would be fine with Angels in a Community set up. Heres a couple of pics of my male and female Borellis.
