Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

The 5" size should be fine with the 3" size, but you would need to make sure there are plenty of soft plants for the 1" sizes to hide in. The 5" might choose to pick on some of the smaller fish. Another thing to watch would be the bubble eye. It can't see as well as the others, so it may have a hard time competing for food. Especially against the larger ones. What size tank are they in? Do you have any pics? I'd love to see them.

Aww that's sweet. I always feel bad for bubble eyes because of that . Yes, I'd love to see pics too. I bet they're beautiful looking in that tank.

120 gallon is ok for 7 goldies. I wouldn't put more in tho, unless you have super filtration.

What are your ammonia readings like? How dirty does your filter get? Just remember that the maintenance on the tank is only going to go up as your goldies get larger. Personally, I would stop at six just for the swimming room. Basically, imagine one ruler for each goldfish floating around in the tank. Actually, for fancy goldfish, it is more like a tennis ball with a ruler through the middle for each one.

Hello Chopstick! Your goldfish tank sounds amazing. Here is a link to the Bubble Eye you may find helpful:
Bubble Eye Goldfish

When it comes to stocking goldfish a good guide line is
20g's for the first goldfish and 10g's for each additional goldfish. This will help to prevent you from being over stocked. I think you would be fine to add 2 or 3 more as long as you keep up with your water changes and keep an eye on your water perimeters.
As for the filtration I would recommend getting your gallons per hour (GPH) as close to 1200gph as possible.
I hope you can share some photos sometime.

Best of luck!
