Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Sounds good.
You could put a couple blue or bolivian rams if you dropped to 6 barbs, 6 neons, and 6 corys.

I want bolivians! They're going to be the centerpiece of my 30 hex. Gotta order online though.

1 Blue Ram
2 Bolivian
14 Tetras
6 Barbs
6 Cories?

Is my plan

What about 3-4 kuhli loaches or 1-2 clowns?
but I heard clowns are prone to ICH?

I'd do a pair of rams and some dwarf rainbows.

This is my 45 stock - 2 GBR, 2 pearl gouramis, 8 dwarf neon rainbows, 7 gold barbs, 7 albino corys, 1 albino bn. I'm actually moving the albinos to an albino tank, and am replacing them with either angelicus or zebra loaches.

Sounds good to me. You're gonna try and get m/f pairs for the rams? I think you can keep the neons at 15.

I'd choose either the blues or the bolivians, not both. These guys are territorial and you will have serious conflict with 4. Even with two, you may want to make sure you have a backup plan. I was unable to keep two bolivians in anything smaller than a 55, which is a length of 48" and a depth of 12".

Everything else looks good

Me, too. They get along great!

Also, since you're stocking two rams, it really helps if you have a lot of hiding places and aquascape for breaks in their line of sight. That'll alleviate some of the aggression.

If you were going to try and put 3 full sized gouramis in a 46, pearls would be the ones to do it with. Make sure you get one male and two females.

You could probably add a golden wonder killi as well - stays at the surface.

BB - my rainbows are almost as bad as the tiger barbs when it comes to eating. Yours are pigs as well?

Good catch, Jaysee. I missed the 3 pearls.

Ynaggo, you definitely want to be careful with gouramis, even pearls. Have a backup plan if you're wanting 3 or really aquascape to break up lines of site.

Jaysee-Oh, yeah, my rainbows once they got over their shyness are HUGE pigs

Beutiful tank. That's actually what I wanted but couldn't find any for less than $400.00 with stand, so I settled on a regular 75. But I'm glad you found it and got a good deal for it. Congrats.
