Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

could i help these fish?

hiya guys,

just wanna pick your brains about something, my kids school has asked me if i would take on 2 american flag females they are currently in a shocking 15 litre tank they know that its way to small for them.

so with my current stocking found in profile and my temp been 27-28c would i be able to get them to adapt?I know they are sub tropical fish but the temp (without heater) that they are in now is 23-25c depending on classroom heat.

said i would let them know by monday morn, what ya think??

ive read they need 18-23c temps...ive never had them but I would think they would adapt to 27-28c but it would lesson their life span tremendously and maybe even make them more lethargic in the warmer temps.....according to your profile stocking, its too confusing on what is where to recommend fish they can go with .. imo , the temp would be too warm..lets see what others have to say

yeah i agree on temp, they already seem quite lethargic already. I would love to make their lives abit better poor things!

You only have the one 30 gallon, correct. Heheheh sounds like your kids set you up with a perfectly valid excuse for MTS.

Sorry you're facing this problem, great that you're saving them. I agree with ilovee, you'll need a new tank and some extra MTS there Good luck and keep us posted!

You could take half of your established filter media from your 30 gal and place it in your 16 gal. Get the tank running and put the new fish in. Just be sure to keep up with your water changes and keep an eye out on you water parameters

Oh dear... My country has been affected by the flu as well, but I think the death rate has been going down now. A lot of people including my family wear mask in public places so I'd advise your kids to wear masks too for protection. Best of luck and take care!
