| | Fish Bum | 6 gallon aquarium stocking? Hi everyone-
I just acquired a 6 gallon eclipse tank from my friend. It only was used for 2 weeks until they got a 50 gallon tank. I want to know what I should stock it with. Can any fish besides betta live comfortably in a 6 gallon their entire lives? I would like to have no bettas or shrimp included in the stocking suggestions. I already have a shrimp tank and 3 bettas.
Thanks in advance! Last edited by jawsisabetta; September 10th, 2009 at 08:20 PM.

| | Fish Keeper | you could have a pigmy/ dwarf puffer fish! They are completely freshwater and totally fun to watch. They eat frozen, sometimes dried, worms, common pond snails, occasionally you can get them to eat pellets.
If that doesn't strike you, you could probably pull off a trio of male guppies or endlers. If you did this you HAVE to stay on top of your water changes though... |

| | Fish Bum | I was considering dwarf puffers, but nowhere near me sells them, and I like to buy my fish where I can watch them before I buy. Could I get 2 females and 1 male of the guppies? I already have platies breeding, and for some reason they are in high demand where I live. My friend has been asking me about guppies, and she could take about ten. Only the parents would stay in the 6 gallon and I would remove the fry and put them in my 5 gallon fry grow out tank. I am assuming they require the same care as platy fry. Any other stocking options, or is that all? |

| | Fish Master | hmmm... six gals is pretty limiting. alot of the smaller species (ie neons) tend to require a 10 gal minimum for swimming room. 1 lamp. Brevis would probably work as well. I know that some people keep them in 5 gals but they tend to stay very close to their shells. |

| | Fish Keeper | You could have two very comfortable African Dwarf Frogs in there. I have one and he's a character! You'll love 'em. |

| | Fish Mentor | lamprolagus is a genus of relatively small shell breeding cichlids from I believe Lake Tanganyika? Correct me if I'm wrong.
What about the Microrasbora's? They're small species (~1" long) that thrive in smaller habitats. |

| | Fish Master | TFA got it.
Sorry I had a huge brain fart when I was typing that up and totally couldn't remember how to spell the name after the "Lamp" part. |
