Barbs plus barbs plus Kribs...a good mix?

Hi

Could you put Oddessa barbs in with 5 existing Rosy barbs (middle/top level)?

Never seen before on my little island they are so pretty.

Other inhabitants are a pair of kribensis (middle/bottom level) and 2 yellowtail rasboras (top level). 3 clown loaches (bottom level).

Despite the Krib reputation they all exist happily together, the Kribs have their cave and ignore the barbs who stay out of their way.

Thank you
Helene

I've found this to be a good link about Odessa barbs. You're so lucky to have them in your LFS! AS long as you meet water requirements, have space, and keep more then five of them they should do wonderfully. I've been looking forward to trying Kribensis in a community tank as I've heard that it is not uncommon for them to act as you've experienced. Have fun with the fish!

As far as I know Kribs are very nice African cichlids and not aggressive...should they spawn they will be territorial and try to protect their young. In a 125 gal. tank as I think I remember your setup is, plants, driftwood, etc., they will be a lovely addition and not harm you other fish or visa versa.

Thank you

The odessa males are beauriful fish, with red and black patterns almost like lace.

For the past 4 days my male Krib has not come out of his cave; I know he is in there but he is defending the cave against allcomers ! the female has lost her bright burple tummy and is defending the top of the cave..... I THINK they have spawned )D

My LFS will take any babies, so I am quite excited lol

I'm also moving in Dec and hubby has agreed I can have my own 'fish' room which means I can finally have my 600l tank *yippee* (sorry, had to tell someone lol ). Also means I can move my clown loaches to a decent sized tank and mix the barbs in the existing tank.

Thank you both for replying Will post some pics of the Odessa's , am in love, so pretty....

Helene ( feeling lonely on her tiny island.... too many people get a glazed look when she talks about fish )
