Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Stocking it with plants

Hey everyone.

I've recently set up my 55g. Placed the necessary decorations such as the driftwood and rocks. I ordered my plants from a store far away from where I live, so they should be arriving in a few days. Once the plants are placed and used to their environment, I need the fish.

So my headache:
What would my stocking list be? I came up with a few. Hope you guys don't mind if I have a few.

-3 Angelfish, 10 neons, 10 glowlights, and 3 cory catfish.
or
-20 neons, 20 glowlights, and 4 cory catfish.
or
-5 Angelfish, 10 neons, and 4 cory catfish.
or
- I don't know?? haha

Well, to maybe make it easier, here are the list of fish I'm interested in and I'm willing and hoping to mix and match. So help me match them, please! =)
Doesn't have to be all, just want any of these in my stocking list.

-Angelfish
-Neon Tetras
-Glowlight Tetras
-Cory Catfish
-Honey Gourami

Thanks so much!

Well on a 55 you can have up to about 6 Angels but I would keep only 4. The Neons I would put about 15. (I have 12 on my 10 gal) Corys I would put 2.(I have to Green Corys on mine) The Glowlight a school of 6 I think would be fine. The Gouramis is where my issue is they are kinda sensitive. If are confi with them I would say 2.

Thanks navyscuba. I love the list you suggested but I don't think I'd try to put any Gourami with some Angels...
Well, here's a new list I might scratch my head and decide to try... LOL I feel like I'm giving myself a headache.

-4x Angelfish, 15x Neon Tetras, 10x Glowlight Tetras, 2x Cory Catfish
-20x Neons, 15x Glowlights, 3x Cory Catfish, 2 Honey Gourami
-25x Guppy fish, 3x Cory Catfish
-6x Honey Gourami, 12x Neons, 5x Cherry/Yamato Shrimps
-6x Neons, 6x Glowlights, 4x Female Bettas, 2x Cory Catfish
