I don't like the stocking in the 55 gallon tropical community aquarium. I was looking at it today while I was doing water changes and I don't feel everyone has enough room.
The current stocking is:
11 neon tetras
3 mickey mouse platys
1 pearl gourami
5 dwarf neon rainbowfish
5 pristella tetras
5 albino corydoras
4 false julii corydoras
1 hifin spotted pleco
When I researched the spotted pleco, he was only supposed to get to 12". Unfortunately, the hifin gets 18", which is not good for the 55. I have total faith my
MTS will put him in a 75 gallon within a year. But until then, I feel like I'm overstocked. Even my mid-dwellers seem crowded.
Attached is a picture of the empty 29 gallon. It'll temporarily house (1 week tops) the 4 cons if I don't get the 55 up and running by the time they get here. I'd like to take the albino corys out of the 55 and put them in the 29. I'm also thinking the pristella tetras would look good in the 29 and then I could add a school of 5 glofish. The "princess" also wants a BN pleco to go in the 29, but I'd like some opinions on this entire stocking so I don't overstock this tank.
Later on, the false julii corys should be going in a 20 gallon upstairs.
That would leave the 3 MM platys, the pleco, the rainbowfish, and the neons in the 55.
Hopefully, I didn't confuse anyone, but what are your opinions on these stocking thoughts?
