| what to do with a 15 gallon tank.... as some of you may know, i have been looking for a new home for my axolotl because he has out grown the tank. i still haven't found a new home for him yet, but my LFS may have a spare 3 foot tank he could live in, he may be moving there in 1 or 2 weeks.
after he is gone i will have a spare 15 gallon tank, and i was wondering which fish i should move into there.
out of these fish, which do you think i should move into the 15 gallon tank:
1 tandanus catfish 4"
1 shubunkin goldfish 4.5"
1 panchax killi fish 2.5"
1 clown loach 2.5"
1 green tiger barb 2.8"
1 albino BN pleco 2.4"
1 blue gourami 2"
1 golden danios 1.5"
2 zebra danios 1.5"
2 common BN pleco .9" & 1.8"
2 guppies 1.5"
3 mollies 3", 2.5" and 2"
3 kuhli loaches 3"
3 cory's 2.2", 2.2" and 1.5"
i was think of moving the guppies, mollies, danios and the kuhli loaches, and possibly the cory's and one of the BN's. also, possibly the fry and the female betta because the tank they are in atm will be going soon.
thanks |

| Goodness. You have an array of fish dont you..lol..Really I think your overstocked with your idea. Pretty badly even. You have a ton of Bottom dwellers and they are big waste producers too. What about just moving the danios, guppies, mollies and cory's. |

| Echoing CHoffman here, I suggest just moving the guppies, cories and mollys, danios, IMO need soo much room as they love to zip arounde like the crazy things they are. I'd either move just danios and guppies or guppies, mollie and cories. |

| The real answer...you need a bigger tank - start saving! . You would have to eliminate the following at least: Catfish, Goldfish, Clown Loach, and the Plecos. After that, you're still going to have one busy community tank. I made that mistake when I started with the same size tank. Looking at what I have now, I can't imagine having that many in that size tank now. Good luck with it. |

let see what other thinks about | umm, i never said the clown loach was going into any 15 gallon tank.
yes, i know my 55 gallon is over stocked, that's why i want to move the smaller fish into the smaller tank. i am giving away the tiger barb tomorrow and the goldfish might go to.
if i just move the 3 danios, 3 mollies, 2 guppies and the 3 kuhli loaches, would that be adequate? if in the end i do have to get rid of my other tank (7 gallons, i have to put it in storage due to space issues) and just add that 1 betta, would that makes things a mess?
also, the idea of a bigger tank is not possible due to four reasons. 1. i will be moving houses this year a couple of times, and transporting a larger tank is not possible. 2. i am only 13, i have no job and no money to save. 3. like i said above, we have space issues. 4. like i said, i am only 13 and i have a mum that refuses to have any more "junk" in this house.
(i am not being rude, i am just letting you know it isn't possible)

thank | I know...It's never as simple as that (larger tank). It was just a throwaway line. If it was as simple as that, noone would have any problems. But down the track, you never know! |

| IF a larger tank isn't possible (Which I totally understand) I would start rehoming fish. I wasn't saying your 55 was overstocked I was thinking the 15 would be overstocked if you put everything your listed for it in there. Maybe you can pick some of the fish you like the best and work stocking around them and then rehome the ones that will either get to big for your tank or your least favs. Most LFS will give credit for fish turned in. |

thank | in the 15 gal I would also add the danios, mollies, and guppies...and then lave that tank be...I dont think adding your betta is going to help matters and no one ever knows with bettas...but not having a back up tank (as you have to put it away) in case she gets hurt or hurts others, will be too risky IMO....I agree with the others as well..being so young and mom not allowing more tanks, as well as making you put the ones you have away, its time to rehome them before something goes terribly wrong.. |

| hmm, maybe i do need to rehome some fish to my LFS, i will start thinking of my plans. the goldfish will prob go somewhere else (because he really is a cold water fish) and the fish i don't need like the tiger barb and killi fish will go too.
shawnie, like you said, putting the 3 danios, 3 mollies and 2 guppies in the 15 gallon tank should be fine, yes? if i just add the 3 kuhli loaches, would that be overstocking it? i just feel like they need the bottom dwellers. the filter is a good filter and i can do regular water changes because it is a smaller tank.
thanks |

| the guppies will keep your bottom clean..trust me ..they are little pigs....I think you would be pushing it by adding the loaches |
