Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

last fish

I have changed my tank stocking list for the 65 gallon and i now have.
2 firemouth cichlid pairs
3 jewels
1 blue gourami
1 red tailed shark.
all of these are about 3 inches
i wont one last big fish for the centre peice.
here are the things i like.
i will list the fish sizes i can get them at the shops.
Jack Dempsey = 4 inches
Green terror = 1.5 Inches
Red Devil ( probaly not but hay ) = 3 inches
Oscar = 1 - 5 Inches

I really like the dempsey tho

firemouths = 13-14 inches
jewels=15 inches
gourami (is he a dwarf?) DG 2-3inches ...reg blue 4-6 inches
rts = 5-6 inches
so without anything else, you have approx, 38 give or take, inches of fish..

jacks will get 8-9 inches
green terrors will get 8 inchs and red devils can get up to 12 inches (both of these are super mean and I dont think your other fish will appreciate either of them)
oscar can get up to 14 inches....

so IMO out of the ones you have listed, id go with a dempsey

measuring fish at juvie size or the size they are now, is fine but not when stocking ...its really important to find out their adult size so you dont end up with overcrowding and major fighting

if your con pair are m/f , you will have major tank wars when they breed..and I have a male con who is 5 inches and huge ...I had to remove my males from my 75 gal as they just terrorized the tank too bad ...

Hay Again.
My Plan Has Stuffed UP .
my parents said i have 2 keep
1 convict pair
3 jewels
2 firemouths
65 gallon tank. i thought i better make sure im doing the right thing here.
i went to 3 of my LFS and asked what would be good with these. all of of them said an oscar would be best as the hang out near the top of the tank and the rest are at the bottom. What would you think Guys. i reackon the dempsey will be to aggresive and they will all wont the bottom of the tank. but im scared the oscar will eat my other fish when he gets fully grown.

sorry

Although large cichlids are NOT my area, I'm sure you could convince your parents about letting you get rid of the Convicts if you tell them how they could terrorize the tank if they decided to breed.
