Schoolers

HI! I have a question concerning schooling fish. I need a species of fish that will school mid-water in my 90 gallon tank, but won't nip the fins on my 8 angelfish, 6 hatchetfish, 3 Clown loaches, dwarf and pearl gouramis, 6 congo tetras, 3 horsefaced loaches, 9 cories, 2 kribs, 12 otos, and 3 upside down catfish. I was thinking praecox rainbowfish. Any other suggestions?

8 angels is a LOT for a 90 gallon tank, and the clown loaches will outgrow it. IMO you're fully stocked, and will probably have to rehome angels once they pair off and hit sexual maturity.

I agree with Harpua. You have a lot of fish in your tank! I would advise against adding anything else. Your tank may not look full if all the fish are not full grown, but it will fill up quickly. Once your angels pair up, if you are lucky, you will be able to keep 2 pairs in a 90 gallon. In my experience, each pair deffends about 2 feet of territory when spawning. The clown loaches will outgrow the tank, but the good news is that they are slow growers, so if they are small now, they should be happy in your tank for quite a while. Once they put on some decent size and get over 6-8 inches though, I would recommend selling them and replacing them with some smaller loaches such as yoyos.

When the clowns get too big I have a 125 gallon tank I can put them in. It has 2 Green Severums, 1 silver dollar, and 4 Blood Parrot Cichlids. As for the angels, the pet store I bought them from would readily take them back as they are constantly selling large angels. Mine are only about an inch long now though. I'm also not adding the gouramis, rainbows, kribs, hatchetfish, and upside down catfish. I'm only going to have the cories, horsefaced loaches, congo tetras, angels, clown loaches, and a gold nugget pleco. I also had 3 clown loaches in there for 7 years before. They were fully grown and very happy. They only died because we had a power outage, the water got cold, and all the fish got ICH.

Well it sounds like you have a good plan then I love my rainbowfish. They make great mid-water schooling fish and they are very pretty and lots of different color forms are available.
