| wouldn't that be to many fish for that tank? |

| I think it would be too many fish. I also think that mollies get too big for a 5 gallon tank, but if that's what you have then it's what you have. I wouldn't add anything else. |

| A 5 gal. tank doesn't give you much room at all.
Schooling fish are very active, and IMO, need more room than a 5 gal. can provide. |

| if you're looking for schooling fish, outside of guppies not really anything you could add without over taxing your fish by making a huge bio-load. I would suggest a single fish like a Betta, or you might be able to do a small school (and i do mean a very small school) of neon tetras or something small like that no more 3-5 honestly. i would honestly go with the betta tho, they can be entertaining and then get some plants in there for your betta to hid in even if they are plastic. But seriously, if you want schooling fish I'd upgrade to atleast a 10 gallon maybe more. hope that helps,

| Depends on where you shop.
I personally will be buying Endlers off Aquabid.com in the coming months, as no one sells them around me. DG's are quite common though, they cost around $5 near me. |

| Personally, I wouldn't put a DG in a 5g tank. I just think they need more swim room that a 5g allows.
I also wouldn't put a schooling fish in it for the same reason.
A couple of guppies might work (either 2 male or 2 female)
A betta is a good choice, only after the tank is cycled of course.
The above is without the molly. |

| You could have a trio of spearkling gouramis
2 peacock guedgons
maybe 5 neon tetras
2 platys
a pair of dwarf gouramis
But I HIGHLY suggest planting the tank with live or fake plants, it makes it look much nicer and make the fish more comfortable |

| I would not suggest a pair of peacock gudgeons for this tank. Our peacock gudgeon tank is 8 gallons and I'd say it's an absolute minimum.
A trio of sparkling gouramis would be VERY cool. I kept a trio in a 5 gallon and they did great until my heater malfunctioned and fried them.
I also agree that a 5 gallon is too small for a dwarf gourami, let alone a pair. Same for platies. Mine looked cramped in a 10 gallon and were much happier when I upgraded them to a 45. |

| Keep in mind your 5 gallon won't actually hold 5 gallons of water when filled with substrate, plants, and decorations. You can't really do schooling fish as they need lots of swimming room. I'd recommend a betta and 3 panda cories - that's a total of about 5 inches of fully grown fish that will occupy different regions of the tank. The pandas will hang together, so that will be as close to a schooling fish as you can get that will be comfortable in that size tank. I love mine. Endler's are another good option as they are very tiny and gorgeous. Last edited by Craig-D; June 23rd, 2009 at 05:31 PM.
