Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Oto or bristlenose

So i have my 55 gal (fish and plants in aquarium info) and will soon be adding two more horsefaced and anywhere from 4 to 6 Kuhli Loaches

Now i seem to have finally gotten the green algae that i wanted to grow, so now here is the question

Can i put in Bristlenose Pleco or should i settle with something small like the Oto

I'd go with the bristle nose. Ottos are cool but they can be very sensative.

Adding Otos or Bristlenose to the bottom dwellers (corys, Horseface Loaches, and Kuhlis) might over load that area of the tank. Otos need to be in groups if at all possible.

i would go with the BN, otos are very sensitive and like to be in groups.

I would also get the Bristlenose, Otos are very small and very sensative to water conditions.

okay...i know im going heavy on the bottom feeders....they happen to be my fav so its hard to choose just one......if i got another tank i could do another set up.......I feel MTS starting up already!

I figured the bristle nose would be a smaller pleco that really wouldnt eat as much and i could probably keep him eating my wall algae for a bit
