| I wouldnt add the tiger barbs with the angel fish because they nip fins. But see what other people say. |

| i know many people who keep angels and tiger barbs, but it does depend on size, how many there are, attitude etc.
i would get 2 veil tail angels, 2 pictus catfish, 2 dojo loaches and a tandanus catfish. if the tank was larger i would add a 3 inch pleco. Last edited by Bad Wolf; May 31st, 2009 at 04:46 AM.

| id advise against angels + tiger barbs. they are very fin nippy fish and the long fins of the angels would just be too much to resist for them.
if you want to go with angels, id say maybe 2 angels + 12 rummy nose tetras/2-4 german blue rams + 3 or 4 cories.
with tiger barbs..im not sure what you would stock with then but you would need atleast 6 as they are schooling fish.

| they can live with larger fish that can hold their own, rainbow sharks, plecos and larger catfish, corys, other barbs, there's quite a lot actually, as long as you choose wisely. i knew someone who kept them with an oscar, but i'm not saying they should be together. he got it when it was only 2 inches and let it grow with them.
well, good luck
in you aquarium info it says you already have fish? what's in the tank ATM? Last edited by Shawnie; May 31st, 2009 at 01:53 PM.

And you've already got fish in this tank, any more and you'd be overstocked.
Perform daily water changes until ammonia and nitrites are at 0. |

| If the tank is empty, I would aquascape the out of it. Nothing is better than taking your time and creating a masterpiece. Then after you get it the way you want, see what kind of environment you have created by checking your test results from the past of a couple months and start your research to see who would be happy living in there. You can always adjust things once things are steady and you know what you are working with.
So, if the tank was empty, I would plant it, and throw in a school of cardinal tetras, cory cats, and a discus. Mind you, the tank MUST be greatly established before you can keep cardinals and discus, and you would have to be ready to preform daily water changes and keep up with them, but I think it is worth the time and the effort to keep such beautiful fishes. |

They need to be kept in groups, preferably 5+ unless they are a breeding pair, to truly thrive. Also, a 46 bow is a 3 foot tank, and IMO discus should be kept in a 4 foot tank, minimum 55 gallons for a small group but 75 gallons or more would be preferable.
To the OP: I would not advise keeping tiger barbs with angels. If you are set on the barbs, then plan your stock list around them (semi-aggressive community). If you are set on the angels, plan your stock list around them (community, but tank mates must be larger than mouth sized). |

| I agree with the other members that suggest NO tiger barbs with angels....it would be disaster with their finnage even in a proper school....there just isnt enough space in the bowfront for the angels to stay away from them...and adding 2 angels with the gourami's in there, might not work either...the bowfronts dont have the space for each to call their own.....im not familiar enough with discus to give advice on just one, but ive read they do much better with some of their own as harpua suggested....
if your aquarium info is correct, I agree the tank must be cycled first...and having a rainbow shark and a rts in the same tank that size, is probably going to cause some issues... |

| Not to the extent that tigers are. Rosy barbs or black ruby barbs would probably make good tank mates for angels. |

| I have an Aqueon 46 gallon bowfront on order. I eventually plan to stock it with six Glofish, 12 neon tetra and five albino Cory Cats.
Right now I'm still (fishless) cycling my 12 gallon nano cube. MTS started for me before I even got fish. I plan on using the Nano as the quarantine/hospital tank, keeping it cycled with a male betta and three albino Corys. |
