| stocking planted 20g FW tank Pictures to come tomorrow or the next day. So far, I have my 2 Otocinclus' in there and my 4 Hatchets (2 silver, 2 marbled) will follow in a day or so. These fish have lived in a 6g for almost two years now, and I was finally able to upgrade.
I was thinking of adding:
*2 more Hatchets so my guys can have a bigger school.
*3 Kuhli Loaches (they'll stir up my sand substrate and eat the snail eggs that came with some of my plants)
*3 or 4 Ghost Shrimp
*either a Honey Sunset Dwarf Gourami or 2 male Dwarf Coral Sunset Platy's (or some such similar name; they are basically orange-colored dwarf platy's)
Any suggestions? Replace one type of fish with another, etc? |

what kind of substrate do you/will you have with the shrimp? i ask because I would like to add shrimp but have smallish gravel and not sand.

| I have sand. Do shrimp prefer that? I hadn't known. |

| Hey
I'd get 8 Hatchets since they are so cool and have a low bio-load! Other than that, I think you have a fairly good stock. |

| Hey,
I would add at least 1 or 2 more ottos because they like to be in schools also. They can get very lonely and really do best with at least 3. I don't believe that kuhli loaches eat snails..I know some loaches do but not sure these ones do...I could be wrong but I'm sure someone else will chime in. |

| I've heard they eat snail eggs, but their mouths are too small to eat the adult snails. We shall see! In any case, I really like them.
And I was thinking about adding another Otto or two, as well. My two are playing in the new tank now, and it's great to see that. =) They never got to do much in the 6g, poor fellows. I think I will get them a couple more buddies. |

| LOL..I agree kuhli are very neat..I really like them too. That would be good even if they ate the snail eggs. Can't hurt anyway.
It is a GREAT feeling seeing your fish enjoy a bigger tank that you Finally get to have. I'm very excited for you and your fish..We want pics ya know. |

| Will do! =) I think I may also take a video; I've never seen such active Otto's before. I just worry that getting too close will scare them off, as they're a bit timid of people looking in on them. Can't blame 'em! |

| Update: 3 Silver Hatchets, 2 Marbled Hatchets, 3 Otocinclus, 3 Striped Kuhli Loaches, and 1 Ghost Shrimp (going to add more; at least two died and I have only seen one for a bit now =( ). To finish it up (there's plenty of middle tank space left), I am trying to decide whether to add either 2 dwarf Platy's or 1 Flamingo Gourami (or some other type of very small Gourami).
What do you think? |

What do you think? | I'd say the Gourami. They are less crazy than platys, making them easier to keep with fish that are easily shoved around like Hatchets. I think that 'Dwarf Platys' are just something some of the least great stores label young platys as just to sell them - I'm not entirely sure but I thin they are normal platys. |

| Those are beautiful fish! But no, it's not those; the ones I saw do look a lot like Platy's, only they're smaller. |

| They may well be juveniles, or genetically stunted. =( Which I shouldn't support, anyway. |
