Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Clown loach

Hi all,

I am going to rehome most of the fish in my tank which are 3 red fin tin foil barbs, 3 bala sharks, and 2 clown loachs because they will grow too big for the tank. My dad is willing to keep the tinfoil barbs until I force him to rehome the barbs when they outgrow the tank. I really like the clown loachs since they are very playful and entertaining, so I am looking forward on getting new fish that are similar to clown loachs personality and hopefully color but do not grow as big as they do. Can anyone help me please?

Thank you.

that's definitely a good choice to return them although i know it's hard to do, especially the tinfoil barbs as they get HUGE.

for your tank there are a lot of suitable and active fish that you could get instead, corycats or kuhli loaches would be a great addition! or you could get 6-10 tiger barbs and an RTS (red tail shark) for the bottom. here's a stocking list that i've put together, i don't have 40 gallons listed but there is 29 and 55 so you can at least get an idea.
