Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

My 29 gallon tank stocking list?

This tank has been set up for 1 year & had 10 platys in it. I had to give them away 6 months ago because I couldn't deal with all of the babies. I restocked my tank with 10 peppered cory catfish and 9 glowlight tetras. I'm just wondering if I could add one more glowlight or would it be pushing it?

my weekly tests results are perfect and I haven't had any problems with my water quality etc. I'm running two aquaclear 50 filters on the tank.

I think you're pretty stocked as it is.
We'd love to see pics of that tank.

I would agree with Amanda...you're pretty stocked, however, if you have been able to keep good water conditions up till now, I don't think one more Glowlight Tetra will change much. I'd go ahead and get it, if that's what you want to do...just keep up with those water changes!

Thanks for the fast replies!

My tests results using my API test kit has been staying the same.

pH: 7.6
ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 20ppm

i agree, i doubt one more glowlight would hurt you, but other than that you're definitely fully stocked

i'd think about doing a slightly larger water change, 20ppm isn't horrible by any stretch of the imagination, but IMO it's just a little too high

I've also tested my tap water and the nitrates start at 10ppm right out of the tap. I do 15-20% water changes weekly.
