Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

mature tank?

my LFS and other sites that i have been reading stuff on say the more mature a tank gets the more you can put in it even if you are a you 1" per gallon limit. is this true or a bunch of smoke being blow up the chimmey?

Granted mature tanks probably have a healthier dose of beneficial bacteria than newly cycled tanks.
But fully stocked is fully stocked no matter how old the tank is.

unfortunately most of them are in business for one reason, and that is to make money, not make sure that the fish go to good homes and are cared for properly

believe me i know, and one day they might figure that out, but for now they basically depend on people being uninformed or misinformed, so that when they're fish die, they come in and buy another and maybe buy some chemicals to fix the problem
