Fishlore's front page has an ever-growing list of aquarium fish. Planetcatfish has an unbeatable listing of of, you guessed it, catfish.
loaches.com has loach pics.
liveaquaria.com has a wide range of pics.
sirdarksol is online now

It really does depend on what type of tank you want

Peaceful Community, Semi Agressive, Agressive,

do you want lots of small fish or just a few large specimens or even just a single fish display tank. Do you want to mix fish.

As SDS said there are quite a few profiles on the main page here, or for loaches www.loaches.com for catfish at www.planetcatfish.com

If you want cichlids do you want African or South American biotypes? You can't mix them but if you go African then look out for SteveAngela1 for Loaches look for Butterfly if you want Puffers look for PFP for advice.

If someone talks about one of their fish that interests you most likely they will have a picture of it in their albums.

the options are endless

thanks for all the post on this thread.i really like the site you all gave me to look at. I have now come up with a stacking list for my tank after the cycle is done. It is as follows.

6-cherry barbs
6-gold barbs
6-black neon tetras
6-glowlight tetras
and either one or two flash plecos L204 the full grown lenth of 5"

jonah said to do only one. But my LFS said that two of that size should be fine. But not more than that i would like to hear back with your thoughts!

my tnak
55 us gallons
current stock three live plants.

Jonah, who is usually very agressive (IE he is prepared to slightly overstock his tanks) in his stocking plans still advises only 1 5" pleco in the tank its not just to do with the size of the fish when it comes to plecos but also the waste that they can produce and as they age Plecos can become territorial and if you end up with 2 males in the tank that can lead to fights on the tank bottom.

I am of course only giving my opinion and others may very well disagree with me.

Pleco males when they come into maturity will fight for territory on the bottom of the tank. Two plecos in the same tank is a hit or miss thing.

I have a couple of tanks where I have 2 Fm and 1 M Ancistrus (Bn Plecos) in the tanks with no issues. but with young Plecos sexing them at 3 months is not always that easy, well for me anyway.

I see but what i have learened about my lfs is that they have one guy that they get there plecos from so i would have to guess that if he is a breeder that he would be good a sexing them but that is only a guess on my part.

But i still have about three weeks before my tank is ready. So i will have a lot of time to do reserch on all kinds of things!

i'm going to agree with jonah on this one, a 55 has a pretty decent footprint but IMO isn't quite big enough for two plecos (even the smaller varieties), you could definitely make it work in a 75 which has a larger footprint and more room for the both of them, but with two in a 55 you may run into some aggression issues.
