Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Stocking up the 45G :)

Before i start, i did have another thread the same a couple of weeks back but i have changed the stocking, moved the guppies and one gourami to the 33G and i gave another gourami to a friend which has left me with a pair and i also have closed the other thread, so heres the new one

I currently have:
1 pearl gouramis- 5"
2 cockatoo cichlids- 6"
1 bristle nose pleco- 4"

This puts me at 15" of fish. So weve got 30" spare
All suggestions are more than welcome

I would go with a school of hatchets, like around 8. Then maybe a school of 6 medium sized mid swimmers, like neon rainbows, gold barbs, or red eye tetras.

i'd say like a bolivian ram pair or a pair of firemouth cihlids there both cool and nice colored when older

A pair of bolivians would be great A pair of firemouths would not work though. They get way to big and too agressive for the other fish in the tank. How about the following:

2 Bolivians: 7 inches
10 Neon Rainbows: 20 inches

I think it would be a stunning tank, especially if you have some live plants in there

A shoal of 4 Giant Danios. I would love to have a shoal of them at some point but don't have any room, plus my LFS hasn't had them available for quit awhile. Some day I will.

I think it needs 2 small schools as it already has several larger fish and some dwarf cichlids. What about Black neon tetras, and Cherry barbs? Or rummynose tetras, perhaps.

I do like the rummy nose tetras alot .

How about 6 rummy nose tetras and 6 forktail rainbows http://lh5.ggpht.com/MadamMatrix/R5E...MG_9412_thumb4

All of this depends on the eggs of the cockatoo cichlids, if they hatch i will leave it a while before i add anything but if they get the fungus again i will add one of the shoals

Ive edited my first post due to gouramis again lol.

My friend who took the gourami from me yesterday came round today and offered me £5 for one of my gouramis, the 2 i had left werent looking to be much of a pair so i thought ok. I know its gone to a good home, so now, we have 30" to play with

Your link in post #10 appears to be broken....
