Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Ideas for stocking.

I was wondering what i could put in my aquarium now that it's cycled.

Current livestock is 1 zebra danio and i want to add some glofish and a platy, maybe an angelfish.

And if it's important, it'll be well planted and and it's 32"x13"x18" (30g?). Of if someone could point out a stocking list for me that would be great. Thanx

1 angel fish- 6"
5 zebra danios- 10"
6 cardinal/neon tetras- 12"
4 corys- 8" OR 6 dwarf corys- 6"

36" with larger corys, 34" with dwarf corys

I think that would be fine if you kept and eye on your parameters

Sounds like a 29g to me.

You need to get a few more zebra danios, at least three more, but six is the recommended number. If you don't want that many you can take the danio back.

What I (am planning to) have in my 29g is: 1 male dwarf gourami, 4 mollies, and 5 emerald corydoras. I already have everything but the corys.

If I could start over, I'd get one green spotted puffer or 2 figure 8 puffers. But I can't bring myself to take my mollies & gourami back to the store, so they stay.

I wish i could get puffers, but i wouldn't be able to put anything else. Oh, and i also have a kribensis that i want to rehome. should he stay in his 10, or move up? I'm kind of worried about the angel eating the neons, the guy at the LFS said for sure they'd get eaten.

If you get a jeuvinile angel and let them grow up together they wont get eaten

Maybe you could move the krib out of the 10G and move the zebra danio into the 10G and get him 4 more friends so then you would have.

10G:
5 zebra danios- 10"

30G:
1 angel- 6"
6 tetras- 12"
1 Krib- 4"
5 corys- 10"

that would have you at 32" in a 30G which is good

Hmmm, I'll hope they don't get eaten, i'll watch out for that. Are angels good for new tanks, or should they go in last?

I would add them in this order:
Tetras
Corys
Kribensis
Angels

last and the size of like a quarter (body wise) seem to acclimate better

A nice round body. Clear eyes, so not all black, unless they have black marks around there eyes. Nice long 'feelers' hope you know what i mean by that lol., which end in a point. No fin damage and more common things like that

Make sure you do get a full school for the danios, they might get nippy with each other if not.

Thanks for the angel tips. My danios haven't been nippy, but rather murderous. i don't thin i can put any other danio with him, he's already eaten 3.

Alex, i looked at the 29 stocking- i think my favorite is the one with the angel, schooling fish and small bottom feeders.

If i had a rough stocking right now it would be:

1 angelfish
4 cories
6 or 7 glowlights/black neons or other 1.5" tetras
1 krib

That would be the plan so far.

I also might want a bulldog plec, can anyone give me info on them, are they the same as rubberlip plecos? Thanks.

They are pretty much the same as rubberlips IMO. They are one of the smaller 4" plecos.
They have roughly the same requirements as a bristlenose pleco except that they are harder to breed and a bit mroe sensitive to water quality
