Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Quick Question.

I have 5 giant danios, 4 gold danios, 4 cory cats, 1 pleco, and 2 honey gouramis. There is not much color in my tank. I would like to get some nice colorful fish for my tank. Any suggestions? The tank is a 46 gallon. Would I be able to get anymore fish or will it become too crowded?

What type of Plec? and how big do Giant dannios get 5"?

without the plec and the Giants you have about 23" of fish there assuming 2 1/2 " for the Corys and the Honeys and 2" for the Golds

No plec is common lol

but with 25" of Giants and 18-24 of Plec to add to the 23" yup you are just a tad overstocked when they all mature ooops

lol, youre not so common pleco is a great "excuse" to get a bigger tank (as if anyone needed one ) if you were to move the common pleco out of the 46 then you have a lot more room to choose from. personally i'd go with some german blue rams or german gold rams in your tank since they'll stay around the bottom and that's where you'd have the most extra space
