Hopefully, I'm going to move the danios & tetras, & DG to my 20 gal. when it's all ICH free.
I'm interested in the following fish, not all of them together obviously, but I'm interested in anyone who has the following fish & which get along.
-Kissing Gourami
-Convict Cichlid (kept as single)
-Firemouth Cichlid (kept as single)
-Rams
-Kuhli Loaches
-Corydoras
-Pearl Gourami
-red tail shark/Rainbow Shark
-Rainbows
-any other interesting fish for a 55 gal.

any of the sharks would be great but for a 55 i'd just have one shark and no other bottom feeders like the cories or the kuhli loaches. however you could definitely keep the corycats and the kuhli loaches together without the RTS, in a 55 i'd go with six of each

the pearl gourami and the rams could definitely be kept together, i think the firemouths might be able to be with them too but i'm not sure on that, i remember reading that they were pretty peaceful fish

for your 55 in particular i'd go with....

6 corycats
6 kuhlis
2 rams
1 pearl gourami
6 praecox rainbows (the dwarf neon rainbows)
and maybe some smaller schooling fish such as rummynose tetras or something similar, whatever you like really

Well, the BR parrot is still in the mix, that's why I was considering some other medium cichlids, to keep the parrot in check.
He's a snarky little thing.

ah okay i didn't realize that you had the BR parrot....hmm well in that case i'd go with the RTS on the bottom, and possibly even the convict. i'm honestly not sure if the BR parrot would be able to hold its own against the convict though. i think it would be risky putting rams in there with the parrot.

Hmmmm.....well I have some time. So I'll go back to my LFS (now have 3 that I've checked out) and see what they have to say. The most recent one I went to, Sue's Zoo, was nice. Individual 10 gal. tanks, so no infections spread. Then a large 75 gal. goldie tank. She'll order things for me too, so I'll see what prices she quotes. Petsmart now carries Convicts & Firemouths, but I'm leery to buy from them since they infected my tank with ich the first time.

An RTS would love having 55 gals!
And when it comes to snarky don't count them out
I'd say that they'd be a nice addition however I can't advice you on the other fish. I know that Rainbows are good tankmates for them. However I don't know if the BR would be an issue there or not.
I actually considered almost this identical stocking plan (swap the BR for a convict though). As long as the agressive ones and their territories leave room for the rainbows that would be my suggestion.

I really want a RTS or a Rainbow shark, but I also really want kuhlis or dogos. Grrr...
