Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Compatible?

Hi all,

I was just wondering, which of the following would a gold gourami be compatible with. (tank is 55 gallons):

Hatchetfish
Tetras (rummynose, cardinals, bleeding hearts)
angelfish
rams
cories

Any of these. I know they get big and may be aggresive so if they won't work that's fine. Also, would a couple of dwarf gouramis be more ideal?

The gourami would do alright with almost anything that isn't another gourami.

ok. I heard that golds can get aggressive to the smaller fish like tetras because of their size. Are they really mean? or do they just get a bad rep.

Here's som info. Everything that I'm reading says that they are more aggressive than other gouramis.

One male gourami per tank is best. I had two DG in my 55 gal. & one killed the other.

Ya. They do get territorial. I really like the golds, but am not willing to devote my 55 gallont to gouramis and fish of similar size. I really want some tetras, cories and such so a gourami wouldn't be too good fo me i guess.

One dwarf gourami should be okay.
