Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

39G and rainbow fish

Hi , I just got a 39 gallon aquarium, it is 30''X12"X24",
it's going to be a planted aquarium and i'm working on completing the nitrogen cycle with fish food.
I was wondering if I could keep 4 or 5 Boesemani Rainbowfish
in there or is the tank too short length wise?

Fish get to be about 4 inches. Naturally live in shallow, alkaline water with lush vegetation.

Hi, Welcome to Fislore. I think they should be ok in a tank that size. Do you plan on getting any other type of fish?

Boesmanis would go well in that tank.
You would have 19 gallons remaining if you got 5 boesmanis.
Guppys are nice but quite weak.

Im keeping them, I like the way they look, big long fins make them look like tiny flying fish/trout mixed lol
