Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

single fish for a 25gal nano cube?

my mum has a 25gal nano cube and would like just one good sized fish in it. I might give her my 5inch red tailed shark would he be ok in a tank that size? if not what one cichlid would be good in there? thanx in advance

A betta would be in heaven...

Or, an Angelfish?

Why only 1 fish?

Since she only wants one fish in the tank, maybe she would like to go with a nice sized dramatic fish. How about buying an adult angelfish for that tank? It would enjoy being by itself, as they really do not need company. Later on down the road, she may decide to get a fish or two as bottom dwellers.

an angel sounds good dont think she would go for the betta as he it wont get big enuf (sp sorry) the reason she only wants one fish is she already has one 4 foot comunity tank and wants something a bit different. she saw a flowerhorn in the pet shop but i told her it would gen to big. would an adult firemouth be ok in that sized tank?

Even tho a firemouth would be ok for the tank, I try to take into consideration the fish that do not mind being the only one in a tank. Some fish will get stressed out and bored with no other fish in the tank. Not sure if firemouths are one of those, but they do tend to be social. That is why the Angelfish was a suggestion, as they do not seem to mind being the only one in the tank. I know I have had a angelfish in a 29g tank alone for a long time and it didnt appear to mind it.

I agree with the Angelfish, one will be very happy in a 25 gallon tank on its own
