| overstocked and which one ok so i have a choice...
i could get 4 bolivians for my 29 or 4 GBR...
azgarden the website i would be ordering from is in arizona selling both species...
ive always heard bolivians are hardyer but i have always like german blue rams better... maneyly because of coloration and more sifficient information
which to go with
they sell them unsexed which is my only concern because i realy wanted a garentee of 1 male to 3 females.
but if odds are in favor i will get 2 and 2..
the stoking plan for this tank is hevialy planted with 4 gbr or bolivians, 6 neon tetra, 3-4 otto catfish, red cherry shrimp.
i wait happily for a repply even a simple g or b.

| Bolivians are also larger and very pretty but...My heart belongs to German Blue Rams Mine actually meet me at the top of the tank and beg for food LOL
The Red Cherry shrimp will most likely become snacks with either

| really u think they will becom a snack.
i thought otherwise...
i know they are bottom dwellers but i thought because of there size and because it eas a hevilly planted tank they prob wouldnt bother with them...
but then again that was a personal opinion...
well i will definetly research that then
wat do u think about them being sold unsexed and would u think ill be overstocked.
i have asked around and knowbody said i would be but who knows...
its cuttin it close |

| When setting up a tank for Rams you want to aim for 1 male and two to three females. I don't think I would like the idea of getting them unsexed either but sometimes it is hard to tell. Personally I would go with the GBR and 6-8 Neon Tetras.
Here's a link with some good ways to tell the gender of your Rams http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cich...manblueram.php
I'm afraid the Red Cherry Shrimp might not survive the Rams.

Personally, I'd decide wherever or not I could really handle the challenge of the more difficult GBR. Personally, I prefer the look of Bolivians - they're not as beautiful but IMO much cuter.
Good luck! |

Shrimp generally aren't that happy with fish around unless the fish are tiny! I know that from exprience. To be honest, RCS aren't that exciting, I've had them myself. |

So, have you decided what ram you want yet? |

| in my opinion Bolivians Are much prettier than GBRs, IMO GBRs look abit artificial with such a wide range of bright colours on one fish, its not my thing . i also love the face that bolivians are always smiling . mine always swim to the front of the tank when they see me its so cute |

| For 29 G, definitely GBR. Have you look into GBR thru local Auarium society or Cichlid Club, if available. These are the best places to obain very healthy, rare species, and also cheap, from local breeders just like you and I. Should be able to sex them for you.
However you may obtain GBR, if one pairs off, may need to prepare for breeding/rearing tank. |

| Hi, I have a tank set up similar to what you are thinking about. I have 2 Bolivians (I got them from atlantis hatchery and they sexed them and sold me one male and one female), 6 neons, 3 ottos and 2 Khuli loaches. The tank is colorful and seems very well balanced. I love my Bolivians. The male is developing some very nice fin extensions, getting more yellow everyday, and has a nice pink tone to his belly. I love watching thier antics. The female is always trying to sneak over into the males territory.
Those GBR's really melt your heart though but my pH is too high for them. |
