Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Freshwater community for 10 gallons

okay, so the guy I sold my ten gallon tank to has a 1.5 gallon aquarium (light and filter included) with two serpae tetras shameful....

and we've been trying to make a stock around of these guys, but we don't know what to do. Serpaes aren't really the best candidates for 10 gallons so I've heard, and I'm aware of their tiger barb-like personality. Can someone help us out?

More Serpaes? Tough one in a 10gal, I'd imagine in a tank that small they'd be quite nippy, so I wouldn't reccomend anything with long fins. Maybe some Corys and Neons.........

Clown Loaches will get WAY too big for a 10gal. And the Serpaes will destroy the Guppies fins

I've had 4 in my 10g. for over a year. Mine are really great and never nipped. I had neons with them. There's an oto in with them and they don't bother him a bit.
They're short finned but I've her the red minor (long finned) serpaes are worse.
They'd probably do better if you added a few more. You could easily have 6 or 7 in a 10g.

6-7 serpaes would fully stock the tank. Sorry, I edited my post.
I had 4 sepaes and 2-3 neons.
