Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

Is this tank overstocked?

I have a 10 gallon tank with black gravel and it is heavily planted and there are alot of areas of shade from the tank light. I havent already put these fish in but I was thinking about doing this combination of fish, is it overstocked?

1 dwarf gourami
4(if room 5) harlequin rasbora
3 albino corydora

Is it overstocked?

I would say that your tank is perfectly stocked, but if you could maybe try to get panda cories instead... they don't grow so big as albinos.

I wonder why the panda cories are so hard to come by? We have been to several pet stores and no one has them.

Id say that the cories are tipping the scale keep them and just look for some smaller cories and perhaps just get a pair

My LFS sells panda cories... I would have some to but they are like $10 a piece, kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Over filter the tank and it should be fine. You'll have to do a minimum of 50% weekly water changes to keep that load down.

Its tipping being overstocked, but I think w/ it being heavily planted you can get by with what you have and nothing more in the tank. Keep a close eye on the ammonia/nitrites/nitrates and do frequent (at least once a week 25 percent waterchanges).

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?
They only get to be around 1 1/2 to 2 inches...

I think you are perfectly fine with your stocking.

I think what he meant is that the 4-5 rasbora's together total inches is 8-9. The total inches for a 10g tank is 10 inches, so the rasboras take up all the space.
