| Almost Fully Stocked Could I add any more fish to my tank? I went on a trip recently and lost a cory, and Swimmy, and I'm about to start the process of building a new hood, and replanting the tank, so I was thinking now would be a good time. You can read my profile for my current fish. So which of these fish could I add, and which wouldn't fit/ aren't compatible? Please say which ones I could get, and how many. Remember that I will be having a fairly heavily planted tank, and will be good with w/c's.. I'm fine with doing more w/cs..
I'd want:
More Cories
One or more Plecos
Kribs, or another small cichlid (pair preferrably)
Some type of loach
More shrimp
Hatchets
I forgot to say, I would like something preferably active, or cool... Right now my tank is a little slow and boring... Last edited by Fish Addict; December 30th, 2008 at 09:40 PM.

| if you want something cool...IMO, the BN pleco is awesome. his "horns" look sweet and hes great on keeping algae at a min. as a plus, they will stay small ~4-5inches. and if you want activity...get a few more zebra danios. i have 4 that school together and swim all over. they are very very active. |

| Yeah, thats what I was thinking for the pleco..
And for the danios, I had six when I first started, but all have died except one.. And while they are active, I didn't find them that interesting... I might go with that if there aren't any other options... |

| If you want more action, you should try some kuhli loaches. |

| Get a pair of Kribs. They stay near the bottom most of the time, are colourful and really active. I bought a pair about a week ago and they're now my favorite fish! (except for my Oscars) |

| So right now you have:
4 tux platy = 8 inches
zebra danio = 2 inches
2 albino cories = 4 inches
8 black neons = 16 inches
Total of 30 inches
You don't really have room for a school of hatchets...if you don't have 6-8 they'll jump out of your tank, so I wouldn't advise that you risk that. If it were my tank, I'd definitely get another cory or two. In addition to that, you could do a pair of rams (take your pick, Bolivian, German Blue, and German Gold are all beautiful fish) OR 3 kuhlii loaches OR a bristlenose pleco. Sorry, I don't know much about Kribs, so I don't know if they'd work in a community setting. Sine you mentioned that you weren't crazy about your danio, you might want to consider trading it in at your LFS...I inherited one with my 29 gal and he got very nippy with my other fish since he wasn't in a school. |

| I don't think the hatchets would jump because I have a TON of floating plants, and even if they did, I have a hood...
Yeah, I don't really want to give it away, I just would rather let it have its time and pass away...
I just realized my profile doesn't say: I have 2 angelfish in my tank too.. Do you think that the Kribs would get along with them?? |

| I would get more cories. At least enough to make 6. They are really a schooling fish and like to be in groups. Other than that your tank looks pretty stocked, as is. Are those angelfish giving your neons a hard time? Be careful once they get bigger. |

| I don't have any neons...
Wow! I saw some Kribs yesterday, and I really like em!
Now I'm thinking of adding maybe:
2 BN plecos or other small plecos
3 Cories
Some Amanos
and either
3 Kuhlis
or
2 Kribs
My tank is already going to be heavily planted, so if I keep really up to date on my WC's could I do this? Last edited by Fish Addict; January 26th, 2009 at 03:27 PM.

| Oh! Sorry David! I have black neons which are like 3 times the size of the angel's mouths, so they're fine! |

| At a fish club meeting this thursday, I bought 3 black kuhli loaches and... I LOVE EM!!!
I think now I may modify my list for some more...
So now it would be:
2 BN plecos or other small plecos
3 Kuhlis
2 Kribs
and if possible,
3 Cories |

| i reccomend the plecos, but only one because all plecos have a huge bioload.
i also reccomend Bolivian Rams, they're great fun to watch and have great personalities. |

i wouldn't put cories, plecos, and kuhlis in the tank. that's WAY too much on the bottom and nothing in the middle or top layer of the tank. since you've already got the kuhlis, you should think about getting some more middle/top layer fish and just have the kuhlis for bottom feeders |

Do you think that the Kribs would get along with them?? | I've had TONS of hatchets - never lost one to jumping, but that's only because I had them in large schools. You would have room for 8 in there - as they have a tiny bio-load. However, I would not get them, as you have angelfish & platys. Angels are aggresive feeders (As I'm sure you know), and can stop Hatchets feeding. When I had platys and hatchets together, I had to remove the platys as they where to competing the hatchets. Hatchets aren't really good at getting food with fish like these!
I think Kribs & Angels would be friends - but they all have different personalitys so it's hard to tell! |

| Yeah thanks for all of the advice...
First, Jack, I know that and would definitely want small plecos to reduce the bioload. And yeah, I was considering some type of rams, but it sounds like they need pretty good conditions, and kribs look really cool...
Second, agabr, I don't know because I have cories and kuhlis together already and they are fine... the Kuhlis are swimming around the middle/top and going on the plants, so they seem fine...
Last, Blub (will never get used to that name), I am not sure about how they'd do, because I have really strange fish.. It used to be that my danios would be really aggressive eaters, but they're gone besides the one, and actually, my angels sometimes don't even try much... I have to put it near them just to get them interested... Most of my fish just wait in the middle/bottom for the food to come to them.. |

| I have a BN pleco and he is really cool looking but I NEVER see him. Just something to think about. I would suggest some Rummy Nose Tetras. They are super active and fun to watch. They are fine with my angels and cories but I don't have any experience with the other fish in your tank.
That's weird about your angels not wanting to eat. If I even walk in the room with the tank all my angels are begging for food. My kids think its great fun to walk from one side of the tank to the other with the angels following them. They beg for food as bad as my yellow lab dog does.
I wonder if it has something to do with the floating plants. Is there an area where there are no plants that you put the food in? Last edited by Regal; February 10th, 2009 at 01:47 PM.
