mail order

Has anyone had experience with mail order fish purchases? Is it humane? Have you had good luck? What are good companies to order from if it is a good idea?

That is the only way I have gotten fish for a long while now. I have only ordered off of aquabid. I hear that the liveaquaria from foster and smith are good.
The way they ship the fish its just fine, they have to ship them into the states from other countries, and ship them to fish stores as well.

I have had great luck with my shipped fish that I have bought.

Is fish ordered online usually cheaper than in the real world?

The price per fish is sometimes cheaper, but the shipping charges (often overnight delivery) usually make the total price per order higher. But if there's a fish you really want, and your local stores either can't or won't get it, online is a great alternative.

Like steveangela1, I've ordered off AquaBid and would do so again.

I am thinking of Aqua bid but dont think its likely the fish will survive a trip across the Atlantic ocean

I purchased 8 of my Bettas from Thailand and they did just fine....They survived the trip and went on to breed for me and produce beautiful babies....
