Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

tropical community

right now i have 2 bolivian rams, a sengel bichir, a rainbow shark, and a chinese algae eater.

what could i have with those in a 30 gallon?

i may be moving the bolivian rams into a different community tank.

they will eventually move to a bigger tank.

I wouldn't put anything else in there. If I remember correctly, bichirs get very large, same with the sharks...

welcome to fishlore!!!!

Can you return or do you want to return the bichir? he/she can get up to 20" and is too big for your 30 ..they also eat live fish so anything they can fit in their mouth, wont survive at night....if you can return him, you have some more options

reply to repiles

cant return him, dont know who would take him, but he hasn't grown at all in over a year, don't know why. the rainbow shark is only known to grow 6 inches, although they require adequate open water and space like a danio would.

he has definitely eaten enough so that is not the problem, he has been eating large baby snails, shrimp, pellets, worms, etc.

There are not many options then. Id say with the sharks and specially the bichir, you are pretty much stocked. The bichir will grow quite latge as started above, but they also grow slowly.
