Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

What do you all think of this list of fish?

Now that I've decided on the planted community tank I've come up with a list of fish that I think would be awesome.

10 cardinal tetras
6 corys
10 cherry barbs
10 serpae tetras

or possibly swap out the serpaes for 10 black skirt tetras or just add more cardinal tetras instead of the serpaes.

At the 1" per gallon rule any way I put it I'm just a little under that which I kinda like.

what size tank does this go in?

I've always wanted a tank of just schools, and if your tank is large enough, this would be really pretty.

What size is your tank?

Serpaes have a reputation of being fin nippers although I've never had that problem with them. I love them.

From what I understand, there are short finned serpae, which I have and long finned serpae, which are the reputed fin nippers.

It sounds like it's going to be a beautiful and active tank.

You are up to a nice looking community tank!

Hope you're aiming at small sized corydoras (e.g. Panda, Adolfoi...)

Are you aiming at a planted tank? If so you could add Ghost Shrimps and Apple Snails. A dark color substrate will enhance the color of your fish too.

This is for a 75 gallon. I'm gonna go with black gravel and lots of real plants. I'm gonna be patient and search out some really nice driftwood as well ( not cypress) I was also thinking last night that I could go with black neons as well, instead of the serpaes. I'm gonna go with either panda corys or orange laser corys. Although I'm not sure how big the orange lasers get.

I think I'm gonna go with harlequin rasboras instead or the serpae tetras. I want to have some contrast and also not have to worry about fin nipping.

You have to watch with the barbs on the black skirt tetras. If your keeping barbs always keep them in a group of 6 or more then they pick on their own kind and wont pick on the rest of the fish and keep fast moving fish so they can get away from the barbs.
No angles or bettas. The tank will look amazing with the shooling of the fish.
Can you put a pic on of your tank when it is complete?
