Hi; I was at my LFS and they had blue rams and balloon rams in a tank together. I really want to bring them home Two questions what is the balloon ram and i fell in love so can I bring one home to my current tank, when the cycle is finished? Almost there.

I was dreaming of a new tank and having Apistos with my cories and a school of dither fish but the rams were so cute. Maybe I could have one with my current tankmates until I can negotiate another tank. hmm.

Talk me down if I'm just crazy.

Balloon Rams are just a genetically mutated/bred version of a German Blue Ram. They have short round bodies, and all of the colors of a normal GBR. From what I'm told, they are just as delicate as normal GBR's. It is best to let the tank mature before adding them.

They are a form of blue rams - and very sensative as well! A lot of members have had them in perfect tanks, and they snuffed it anyway.
