| What would you do with a 10 gallon tank? Ok imagine you have just found a 10 gallon tank empty and ready to put fish and plants in it. What would you put in it BUT BE SPECIFIC I mean saying what color of gravel, what kind of plants, what kind of fish and how many of that fish, what kind of plant and how many of that kind of plant? what kind of decoration. I mean everything. But I have abd news for those betta lovers I understand that most of you will say put a betta in there, or divide it in half and have two bettas but I want different answers from that so sorry but No Bettas. Dont get me wrong I love bettas( I even have one) its just I am looking for different answers.
Here is what I would do, but I want to hear from you guys two
I would have a tank with Black gravel,6 java ferns, and 5 julii corydora?
Ok now i want to hear from YOU.
Have fun |

| I would make it into a sump for my 28 SW tank. I really want one.Or make it into a quartine tank. Put some left over sand from my tank, mini in side filter, may be some pieces of LR, and maybe some corals( mushrooms and other low light needing corals). |

It's kind of overstocked, thats more than 1" of cat in a 10g tank, perhaps you should consider a kitten. |

| On the joke... What about a Catfish?
OK serious stuff. By how many of that plant - I would do what I usually do and buy a pot or two and let it grow into the place I want. If you buy stem plants in a bunch, there is usually around 10, and you can double that by taking a cutting from all the stalks.
I would aquascape it in a similar way to Filip Oliveira's 'Pinheiro Manso'. ( http://www.aquascapingworld.com/foru...iro-manso.html)
For animals, I'd have something like 12 Ember tetras, 6 Amano shrimps and a Nerite snail. |

| I would do a black background and and sand substrate with anubias and java fern. I would also add a floating plant to subdue the light a little bit. I would aquascape the tank with a few pieces of driftwood. I would house 8 Galaxy Rasboras, a honey gourami, and have a small cherry shrimp colony. Unfortunately, unless I decide to switch over to RO water I can never do this tank since the rasboras require really soft water. |

| I would do a black gravel subtrate with java fern and a sword plant. It would have 4 peppered cories, a dwarf frog and an angelfish or a pearl gourami. |

| Black gravel substrate, I'd have to think on what plants exactly but it would be moderate-heavily planted. There'd be driftwood, and for fish... either a single convict, or some neons, or a paradise fish. I'm trying to make that decision right now as a matter of fact. |

| If I had any skill or abitiliy in growing plants, I would heavily plant it and put like, 1 or 2 dwarf puffers in there. That would be a cool little tank. |

Also a ten works for a juvie Paradise fish it's the larger fish needs a 20. |

Ok, back on topic. I would probably attempt a brackish tank and put 1 green spotted puffer in it. Or, I would stock it with a school of 6 Neons. I would use fake plants (I'm to lazy to figure out which ones I would want right now. If I ever do a puffer tank, I would heavily plant it), and pool filter sand. For decor, I would have miniature river pebble stack, and a rock cave. |

Oh, and another idea... Heavily planted with the plants I mentioned before, except a figure 8 puffer.
EDIT: Scrap the Figure 8 puffer (until further notice), I'm doing a bit of research on them and some sources say 6", but others say 6cm. I'll try to confirm which is true and whever or not that would be a suitable (for the pufs whole life) setup.
EDIT #2: It seems that most reputable sources agree that Figure 8s get to about 8cm (3"), and the 6" thing is due to confusion with similar species. Last edited by Blub; September 28th, 2008 at 04:32 PM.

Oh, and another idea... Heavily planted with the plants I mentioned before, except a figure 8 puffer. | Convicts get up to 4.5". You may have gotten them mixed up with Firemouths who get up to 6.7". 1 Convict would be fine in a 10g all alone. Mine will get much bigger and I'll eventually have to upgrade or give the male away.
EDIT: Oooh! I like the figure 8 puffer idea! |

EDIT: Oooh! I like the figure 8 puffer idea! | I haven't got mixed up... Even a 4.5" full grown fish wouldn't be able to live in a 10gal all it's life without getting stunted. It would be OK for a while though. |

What's so bad about a small or smaller fish? |

If stunting wasn't a bad thing - I asure you I'd have a 10gal oscar tank! (I DO NOT ADVISE THIS) |
