gotta move my angelfish!

i moved my community fish into a 20 gal. long tank and my 2 angelfish hate it in there! they need a taller tank and my 29 gal. has 4 little goldfish in it. would this work out if it is at 75 degrees? i know they say 10 gal. per goldfish...but they are great...big filter, frequent water changes and all testing numbers are fine. my third tank is also a 20 gal. long so the angelfish can't go in there. thanks for any ideas and comments.

Hi juloea:
I don't mean to tell what to do or not, and I don't want to sound rude at all, but honestly this is what I see:

I figure your 29gal tall should be the Angelfish tank. It's ideal for a pair of Angelfish and you add some tankmates (8 Harlequin Rasboras OR 6 Marble Hatched AND 6 Kuhli Loaches OR 6 Panda Corydoras).

I don't see goldfish as compatible tankmates for them, despite your effort, willingness and capabilities of keeping optimal water conditions. Angelfish will love higher temperatures (78-82F) than optimal for goldfish. Other thing is that the surface area of a 29gal tall tank is the same as a 20gal tank; Goldfish will grow big and require large surface areas, at least twice (likely more) as the one they have now.

I just don't see it happening for the goldfish and other fish you list in your aquarium info, as the pleco and catfish, which species are they? some will grow huge (e.g. Common pleco), others will be fine in a small tank (e.g. Panda corydoras). What species of "shark" do you keep? Some grow only 6" but need somewhat long tanks; others are just impossible to keep in a tank, now matter how big (e.g. Iridiscent shark).

With your actual stocking, Zebra Danios, X-Ray Tetras, and Livebearers (mollies and platies) will likely be ok in one tank; however you would like to consider getting a few more Tiger barbs and keep them in the other 20gal.

If I were in your situation, I would give serious thoughts in either getting bigger tanks (or even a pond) or give away those beautiful fish I can't provide good care for to someone who will.

Extremely well said - with just 1 thing to add: there's a typo in 'Marbled hatchets', and it would be ok to add 8 of them since they are several milimeters thick.

okay...not sure what i'll do. these three tanks take a lot of time now. i know i'll need a bigger goldfish tank sooner rather than later. i won't get harlequin rasboras (i had two die quickly) or hatchets (they jump!). maybe i'll just get a big goldfish tank and move angels into tall 29 gal. my pleco is about 6 inches and holding...but i know he'll get bigger. i don't know what kind of catfish i have but he's about 4 inches or less and hasn't grown at all...he's very cute and we built a tunnel out of rocks and he hangs out in there. i don't want to give angelfish away...i'm so confused! but i won't put them with goldfish it was just an idea. thanks for help!
