Skrimps or something else?

Hello,

I have a question that after thurough searching has not been answered. I have a 75 gallon tank that at the moment is just starting to grow algae and I want to nip that in the bud before it gets crazy.

As such I am trying to make up my mind as to the algae cleanup crew, a mass of shrimp or some other types of algae eating fish. I like having the bamboo shrimp so far but he doesn't go after the algae and prefers to sit in a cross current and filter feeds.

The only problem I am seeing with having something like a red crystal shrimp colony is my future addition of 2 bala sharks to the tank. As well as the 2 current angels living in the tank. I am not sure if these 2 types of fish would harrass the smaller shrimp and eat them or not.

As a sidenote I will be adding more plants and decorations to the tank as well soon. Likely when I pick up the bala sharks.

Sorry for the horrible picture, my cell phone is all I got right now. It isn't cloudy, the camera just sucks.

I would use a pair of bristlenose plecostomus for algae control. Neither angels nor balas should bother the BN plecos, and they stay 4-6 inches in length, usually.

If you really want some pretty algae eaters take a look at some Albino longfin bristlenose plecostomus.

We have some angels that won't eat the shrimp and some that will leave not a single one alive in the tank... so it is a toss up on that, I think.

Ok thanks, I was thinking that that might be an issue. I'll look into some smaller pleco's or cory cats.
