I have a 29 gallon tank thats already been cycled. I currently have:
3x smaller Corys
3 x Platys

Ide like to finish this tank off with a school of smaller fish along with one or two larger fish to act as central pieces. Smaller fish should be easy to decide but Im lost in regards to the other fish. Ive considered a pair of angelfish or a red-tailed shark... but Im open to other ideas.

angels are better off in singles or shoals of 3+. They will let each other know who the top-dog (uhh... top-fish) in the tank is, so the dominant fish will bully the weaker one constantly. A red tailed shark could work, but is better off for the larger tank as they do get quite large and territorial. Both angels and sharks are vibrant active fish, but here's some better, less risky species to choose from:

Im leaning towards either the Harlequin Rasboras or glowlight tetras as my schooling fish... maybe danios. Just not sure about the Last part. I had a pearl Gourami in my last tank before I moved and loved him, but Ide like to try somehting different this time around. Thats the type of fish that Im loking for though... good looking, compatible with the others yet can be solo, or in pairs.

Well, try 5 Harlequins and 4 glo-lights and a gourami of some sort. Maybe blue or three spot
