10g tank possibly 20-30g later

i have a 10g tank right now and im looking at getting a 20-30g(maby even bigger) tank to move my fish into later

i have a few species that i like and was wondering what fish you guys would choose

opaline(blue) gouramis
columbian tetras
buenos aeris (excuse my spelling) tetras
kuhli loach or dojo loach
zebra pleco
emerald barbs
bumblebee catfish

those are the ones i can remeber seeing and liking at the LFS feel free to suggest others

my 10g has plastic plants, basic aquarium gravel and driftwood

when i get my 20-30g(possibly bigger) tank i plan to use sand as substrate, get some driftwood and use live plants as well

Goggles,
Sounds like you have a nice upgrade in the works. Personally, I don't care for gouramis. I know lots of people like them. They have a reputation for aggression - of course, I have Malawi cichlids, so I don't have much room to talk Tetras are nice for movement and a splash of color. I LOVE kuhli loaches and Zebra plecos are my dream fish. Be selective in your source for Zebras. My other fav fish is the bristlenose pleco, perfect for a mid-size aquarium. Watch out for common plecos, they get much too large for the tank you are planning.

I like rare, endangered fish and I like to try to breed fish.

Whatever fish you choose, make sure they can cohabitate and that they have similar water condition requirements. Filter well, feed good foods (but not too much), and don't overstock.

If you come up with a potential stocking list , post your choices here - Local Fish Stores don't always have well trained sales associates in their fish depts. People will give you input and help steer you away from a mistake.

Good luck

yea my old old old tank (like 8 years ago) had gouramis and they were muderous to put it lightly part of the reason could have been that we had a male and a female but ive heard they can be managable if u dont keep males or keep them with larger fish

I would definitely keep a close eye on the gouramis... I just had to relocate one that tried to murder my new black phantom tetras. The females are much less aggressive though, so if you dont get males then it may work... I personally wouldnt risk it again, tetras can be skittish anyway and the added stress of a large agressive fish wont help that at all lol.
