40g advice wanted

My partners tank is almost cycled now and she has changed her mind again.... of course. So now she would like 5 neon tetras 5 glowlight tetras 5 black neon tetras 2 dwarf gourami and a couple of otos. All advice and ideas welcomed.

That is acctualy a very, very good stocking plan! I'd say, up all the schools to 8. And replacing the Otos with a Clown or Bristlenose pleco. Otos are wild caught, and when caught they put chemicals in the water which harm the environment but make the otos easier to catch. And turn the Dwarf gourami situation into 3: 1 male 2 female.

I agree with the Gouramis... the males can be very agressive, especially with each other... also keep an eye on how they act toward the neons. I just had to relocate my male gourami because he tried to kill some tetras =(

We were going to add the gouramis last. And will probably follow the advice about 2 girls and 1 boy and advice on increasing tetra schools. thanx.

All the more reason to keep one! It's a great group of fish. Bristlenoses are realyl cute and the commonest dwarf ones, but Clown and Flash plecos can be the reward of patience and a fair bit of searching.

we got the first lot today- 8 black neon tetras. Next week we will get the neon and week after the glo light tetras. Then the gouramis. We should be getting a bristlenose as well as my partner decided "their cute in a ugly kinda way" if that makes sense.

Leave 2 weeks between introductions, and get 4 fish at once MAX. This ensures you ar not thrown into a mini cycle by all the extra bio load at once.
