I've got two convicts in my 55 gallon tank and one of them changes from jet black and blue to almost grey and green. This is my first time dealing with cichlids and I wanted to ask.....is this normal?

A lot of cichlids change colour depending on mood, breeding condition, etc.
I don't really know the normal colour scheme for convicts, but colour changing itself is normal. I'm sure someone with convicts could help you figure out what they mean!

yeps its normal for all of the above...with my pair, the stripes are really predominant and showing when in breeding mode...they always brighten up with the blues and greens along their fins as well..you will notice gray/white and lack of stripes when they are stressed ....
