125 Gallon Stocking (Brainstorming)

Ok, I just about have the aquarium stand for my 125 gallon built. Once it is, I'm moving some fish over from my 55 gallon. Here is what will be in there:

1 black ghost knife - currently about 5-6 inches.
2 angels
6 green and bronze cories

Thats all the fish I know will be transferring over. Here is what I hope to add:

1 sunshine pleco or gold nugget
1 vampire pleco or spotted adonis
2 pictus catfish

This will be a planted tank with driftwood.

I would like to add something that will hang out towards the mid to upper part of the tank. Maybe something that would add some color and activity. I thought maybe some shoaling groups, but the bgkf will eventually be big enough to eat some of the smaller types. Neon tetras would be nice, but he would likely eat them up now. So I was thinking maybe 3 pearl gouramis.

Anyone have some ideas?

maybe some rainbowfish...they are very active swimmers and will be too big to be eaten...pearls are very peaceful and may get picked on...but u could try them

The thing about bgkf is they are so different fish to fish. You could have a 16 incher that would not even dream of eating another fish. Then you might have an 8 incher that tries to eat everything in your tank. The one I have right now, I am not certain about it. He is very shy and almost completely nocturnal. The one I had previously, he was active most of the day. He would swim around my hand whenever it was in the tank. I just haven't got a good read on this guy, but I don't see any aggression yet. I just don't know what he is doing at night.

The only thing I think would pick on the pearls would be the two angels, but I have not seen any aggression from them yet. One is still quite young (I am hoping it pairs with the other assuming they are opposite sex). I am not familiar with the rainbowfish. I will look into those. They sound like a possibility.

i wouldnt worry about any angel/gourami aggression in a tank that size...i would be worried about the bgkf...prob best to wait and see how his tempermant is...
rainbowfish are very colorful when healthy, and i have heard anything bad about them...i mostly see them in community tanks as they like to be in groups (not sure about size of group tho)

Bleeding heart tetras, Buenos aires and Congo tetras are large tetras, if you decide against rainbows.
