What kind of fish should i put in a 5 gallon tank?

I have a 55 gallon tank but I am moving next year so I dont want to use it right now. I do want fish again and I have a 5 gallon tank that I can use what kind of and how many fish do you think I should get/have. Any suggestions will be helpful. thanks

About the only thing you could put in a 5 gallon tank is a Betta.

But I see from your profile that you are unfamiliar with the Nitrogen Cycle. It is very important to read up on it. Here's a link:http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

Also, if interested in a Betta here's a great article: http://www.fishlore.com/Articles/bet...care-guide.htm

and this one:

Good luck

You can do freshwater shrimp such as Cherry shrimp, ghost shrimp, etc in a 5g.

You could do a small grouping of livebearers (all males would be suggested if you do not have other tanks for babies.) 3-5 male guppies would work -or- 2 male platies -or- 2 male mollies -or- 5 heterandria formosa -or- 5 endler males

5-10 gallons is perfect for a betta, in my opinion. That's exactly what I would put in a 5 gallon... but then again, I am betta crazy.

Definitely read the articles that John posted, it's absolutely critical to understand the Nitrogen Cycle.

I don't want to disagree with CWC, because he probably forgot more than I know but, the reason I didn't suggest live bearers is because in the fish profile the min tank size recommended is 10-20 gallons. And the reason I didn't recommend heterandria formosa or endler males is because I never heard of them. (I told you he knows his stuff!)

Heterandria formosa (common name: Least Killifish) they are in the top 10 smallest vertebrates, not just including fish in that listing.

Endlers are just colorful and tiny (a cousin to the guppy).

I'd love to have them, but I can't find them around here.
