well then, i really recommend bettas...they are FULL of personality and color...they are so much fun to watch and interact with...they love swimming around and playing in the decor/rocks that u put in their tank...all u have to do is keep their water clean and they will live long healthy lives
...and im sure u have seen pix of some of the gorgeous bettas that some people on this forum have lol

If I do get 4-5 platies and had them all males will they fight?

Having all males should be fine.

i would only go with 3...that will be a total of 9" assuming the are 3" each...u definently dont want to overstock a small tank...there is much less room for error in a small tank where the toxins can spread quicker

No. They only fight if they have females in a ratio less than 3 female 1 male.

Platys only get 2". Platys crossed with Swordtails are often labeled Platys - but get around 3".

You could, if properly filtrated, do 4-7 platies, if you had nothing else in the tank.

That's true, Rifter. If he wanted to add others (such as a cleaning crew) your numbers were ideal!

3 Platys, 4 Dwarf/Pygmy corys. Sounds like a neat set up to me!

would a platy and a betta fight? Because i was thinking of puting like 3 platys and 1 male ebtta together or will the platys harass the betta?

There would probably be some aggression issues.
The only things I've seen as possible tank mates for bettas are corys, ottos, or snails and even then it depends on the bettas personality you have to have a back up plan in case it doesn't work out.

How does a tank like this sound Lucy?

1 male betta
5 pygmy cories
3 otocinclus
2 java fern in a 10 gallon tank with a bright brown tan looking gravel

Im kind of new to the plant in the aquarium thing but it seem kind of easy(correct me if im wrong)

Also If I have no algea in my tank and my tank is 3 months old do you think it would be smart to get otocincluses? I do have algea wafers but I dont know how much to feed my cories and otocinclus
