it makes sense lol
i tried 5 serpaes with my 2 pearls and within 2 days i had to take them back b/c they were nipping at their fins...u could try a school, as long as there isnt any fin-nipping, there shouldnt be any problems

Hm, that sounds a little on the risky side of things though. Perhaps I'll pass then.

ive heard cherry barbs do well with gouramis and angels, they are extremly passive for a barb, and really dont mess with tankmates...maybe a school of 8...they would add some nice color

All of the cherry barbs I've seen have been a really bright red, which I think is not something I'm looking for in a fish. They're super pretty, but With the pearls I want, I think I'd rather have something that was slightly more subdued, hence the idea of the glowlights. I'll keep them in mind, though. =)

o, ok...rummynose tetras are also nice...im not sure about their tempermant, but have seen them housed with discus fish, so i guess they would do fine with gouramis

Alright, so it's getting closer to the time to add the fish. The ammonia was almost zero last night, and the nitrates and nitrites were pretty much zero as well.
So! I have a couple of questions (which I will also be putting into the first post):
If I'm going to have Pearls, bristlenoses and possibly (we'll see?) the glowlight tetras, what order and numbers should they be added in?

i would go in this order...but none of those fish are very territorial, so it shouldnt matter
first-pearl gouramis (4-5)
second-tetras (8)
i would wait about 6 months before adding the BNs...that will allow algae to build up, instead of u having to add messy algae wafers every day...but its up too u, u could add them sooner
make sure u wait 1-2 weeks before adding the next group of fish (allows the cycle to settle)

Cool. =D
My other tank has been set up for over a year, and I've yet to get any algae growth. It is totally, completely and utterly understocked though, Could that make the difference?
So the tetras would be fine in there? Sweet. And I should add all of the pearls at the same time, and then later add all of the tetras at the same time?

yea...the algae needs some kind of food source...it eats what the bacteria cant take care of
the tetras should be ok, what size are the pearls u will be adding? and same ? for the tetras...

The pearls should be about three inches long. At least, the last time I went to the fish store, that's how big they were. The tetras, I've seen them anywhere from under an inch to almost two inches, so that's more variable.

then it would be ok to add them all at the same time...then wait 2 weeks and add 8 tetras...u can add more later if u have room
i wouldnt get the BNs until there is algae in the tank...it would just be easier on u and they can be kinda messy with wafers

Alright, well, I went down and bought three pearls, rather than five. They're in my tank now, and seem to be okay. The light is off, and they are swimming around together, but they are not nipping or bullying as far as I can tell. They're pretty chill, actually. I'm sure that will change once they feel at home though. I'm going to try to get that driftwood as soon as I can, because I don't feel like there are enough hiding places for five fish in the tank right now. Once I get that in there, I'll get another couple pearls.
