So I'm at the planning stage of stocking my new 55G that has 3 small live plants so far.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

1 Elephant Nose
1 Black Ghost Knife Fish
5 small Albino Corys
1 Pleco 6" (friend can't keep it any longer in his tank)

What I'm looking for is something with some color to add to this list.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Looks like you like large fish! Elephant nose and BGK. Big fish! Those 2 will equal about 32" when full grown. I DO NOT RECCOMEND keeping the pleco in anything smaller than a 75gal, as they are active fish, and the average 55gal is around a metre long, with the pleco getting to 60cm, there is no room for him to move! He is also a HUGE bio load producer. You should take him back ot the store when he's small, because it is almost impossible to get rid of a large pleco.

So, we have around 25" of fish to play around with. So, 5 albino corys? About 13" full grown. So, 10" to play with! Perhaps 3 Male swordtails?

I didn't realize that the BGK could grow so large... but I do want that fish in particular. So I'm thinking my list should be a little more like this:

1 Black Ghost Knife
1 Pleco 6" (my buddy has it in a 20G right now, so I'm trying to do this fish a favor for now)
5 Albino Corys
5 Swordtails or Mollys

Is this more appropriate?

Well, take pleco to store ASAP - it will be much easier for you and pleco.

I think 5 Swords, 1 BGK and 5 Albino corys would be stocked!
