I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a retailer in Seattle that carries Bio-Spira and no one here has even heard of it! I expect this in a small town, but in this city we have so many fish stores, you'd think it wouldn't be this hard to find...! Anyway, I digress.
I've heard that you can treat a 30-gallon tank with Bio-Spira for $10-15. It has to be kept refrigerated, which is the main reason it is so hard to find I think. I was reading online today and several people have mentioned that you will never find it in a major chain store (as in, Petco, Petsmart, Petland, etc.) I hope you can find it!

Back in high school I worked at "Pet Supplies Plus" and we had it, along with several other expensive, refrigerated, fish supplies and frozen mice (pinkies) in a locked fridge on the fish equipment aisle. I'm pretty sure I've seen it here, as I've bought mealworms as treats for my turtles and my box turtle (forgot to mention him, lol). Guess I'll stop on the way home from work and see, as well as maybe get some sand and a plant or two.
Again, what are Ottos?

Yeah. Back home, people spend money like it's going out of style, and this store was in a major shopping center on a major road. All I remember is we got a $2 commission for selling that stuff, so when people came in to buy a tank, they of course wanted to buy the fish the same day, and we couldn't say "we can't sell you fish" but we could say "if you want to put fish in today, you'll need this" and we'd walk over to the fridge. Most people had no idea what they were doing and would drop $500 on a big tank/stand combo, deck it out with trashy looking mixed neon rocks and little sunken ships, or treasure chests, with bright pink/blue plants, load up on fish, and get it all at once...one of the reasons I stopped working there, the owner only cared about numbers, not animals... Coming from a home with plenty of animals (at one point we had 6 dogs and 13 cats, and we don't live on a farm or in the country), it was just too hard to work somewhere that pretended it cared about animals.

A Betta would be nice, 4 male platys/guppys would be pretty neat, or a mix of nano fish like Ember tetras and Pygmy gouramis.

Oh yeah, I forgot about schooling! Sorry!
