Just want to state that, if you lose a frog to what you think is chytrid fungus, please do not risk contaminating the environment with it. Either soaking the dead frog in bleach or cremating it will kill the fungus and spores. I know this seems extreme, but it is far less extreme than the damage that could be done if wild amphibians get exposed.

Thank you for that information, it's very important. I would also recommend adding bleach to the discarded tank water.

James, I apologize for thoroughly hijacking this thread.

I don't. I enjoy hijacking threads.

No, sorry about my addition to the hijack, but I really, really don't want the local lakes and swamps to be silent at night. The tree frogs are such beautiful singers.

My new one didn't make it (luckily he was still in quarantine)
The original (he really needs a name) is doing great, thanks for asking.
Still by himself in a 5g.
I've heard the 1st month is crucial for a frog because of the stress in transporting them to the store and that they're usually very young.

How's your fish doing?

As for Pawn's question about solitary frogs - I bough2 and originally kept them together in a 10g (~30l) tank. They used to play together and were always near eachother.

I moved them both into my 55g and they still play occasionally, but as the tank is so much bigger they probably can't find eachother so easily. On occasion I'll see them chasing and grabbing onto eachother

I like to see them swimming together and jumping around after eachother so I would recomend that you get atleast two. They're only small and contribute only slightly to the bio load of the tank, and they're fun to watch!

A ong story short my mum needed some dither fish (hinting at my guppies) and wanted more neons (hint lol) to add to her 30 strong shoal so she got my fish.

I bought 4 Multies to try breeding them. Fingers crossed as i read there easy to breed.

Im also saving for another tank for a Betta. I realy want one after reading about every one elses and how much they miss you when your on hols n stuff. And there very good looking fish.

You'll love having a betta. They look like boring fish sitting in their cups, but once you get them in a good size tank with better food and water conditions, their personalities and beauty really shine.

What are Multies?

You should post a pic of your mom's neon, they really are beautiful in a good size school.

I would take a picture of my mums neons but my camera skills are little to non. lol Ill try to convince her to take one.

Multies are a small variety of cichlids (Females 1 inch long male 2 inch long) that live in shells. Usually a snail shell natural in lake tanganyika but any snail shell is ok if washed thourughly and properly. There scientific name is (Neo)Lamprologus Multifasciatus so you can find a pic. Great little fish and easy to look after.

Over here in England there kept in these tiny little box compartment about 4inch sqaure and slightly filtered. But better than in those little cups. Need to save about 30 or 40 pound and get a tank, set it up and cycle it then find a nice betta. The majority of the bettas i see over here are a very deep purple or occasionly orange. Need to shop around more.
