29 gallons and still not sure what to do.
Well like the title says I have a 29 gallon tank that is almost done cycling.. but i have only a small clue as to what should be living there.
I've gone though a couple ideas already and have been downgrading the whole time so its not overstocked. My last idea was to put 1 Rainbow shark, 1 Rubber Lip Pleco, 3 Gouramis (wanted dwarfs but apparently they are coming down with some sort of a disease right now so nvm). I wanted something that schools though but I can only think of the tiger barbs which aren't all that special looking and would attack gouramis.
So I'm ready to change any of the fish except for the Rainbow Shark. That's a must for me, I just love how they look. But is it possible to put something with it that can school and won't attack gouramis. I can always dump the gourami idea though if the schooling fish actually look nice.
Oh and the tank has plenty of live plants and 2 caves so I'm not afraid of the shark going after anything that much.

If you can find them you could also get a school of six Dwarf Rainbow Fish or Odessa Barbs.

The above stocking scheme would work, but that only puts you at about 21 inches. You can add 8 more inches of fish in there. In my opinion, I would do the dwarf rainbows as your schooling fish. I have them and they are so pretty

I've been trying to find some more info on the rubber lip plecos and some sites are saying they get to 7"... while petsmart is saying 4-5. but either way yeah I have more room. I'd love to get some dwarf rainbows but I don't know if the petsmart here has any. Its either a school of dwarf rainbows or the zebra danios. I'm also wondering if I can stick a gourami in there or two to fill the rest of the space.

What about this:
6 Dwarf neons (Aren't too hard to find!)
6 Zebra danios
1 Rainbow shark
Gouramis don't tend to do too well with danios because they can be out competed for food.
Whatever PlanetCatfish says about catfish is right, so check out their profile for the rubber lip pleco.

I think I finally figured it out. 1 rainbow shark, 1 rubber lip placo, and a school of 6-8 zebra danios or dwarf rainbows. I just don't believe that my local petsmart would have both so I rather just give myself room for either. But if they do then I'll get a small school of one and the other. I just thought the shark would attack the danios and dwarf rainbows, they do seem small and shy. But I'll trust you guys, I bet you know a lot more about this then I do.
Thank you!

2 small schools would mean 6 of each, leaving only space for a Shark. I'd get 2 small schools and the shark if it was me.

Yeah but My bf who also has a say in what we get wants a pleco. He's wanted one for a while so I think I'll be nice and just get the small one and only one school.

In that case I'd get 10 of the schooling fish, the pleco and shark.
