Cycle finished but...

heya guys and gals

This is my first post on fish lore since joining . thanks to the wonderfully advice that is available on your site several months ago i was able to successfully set up 20 g tank that i have had very few problems with , thanks to aforementioned information and advice .more recently having become deeply embroiled in the hobby i have thoroughly been researching and constructing a 55 g freshwater tank , the tank is heavily planted .

My question is : I have no idea what to put in it , any suggestions would be great .

P.S im looking to do something different .

What about a Queen Aravesque Pleco, a pearl Gourami, with a school of Celestial Pearl Danios? I dont know thats kinda 'normal'.

I am a big african cichlid fan, there are a ton of different species that you don't find commonly.

Dont cichlids dig up plants though? I originally thought cichlids, but I was pretty sure they would destroy his tank.

African cichlids don't dig up plants I think, although I am by no means a cichlid expert.

Here are a few plans:

Plan A: South American Biotype community
8 Bleeding heart tetras (2 Male 6 Female)
2 Bristlenose/Clown plecos
8 Hatchets
1 Angel

Plan B: Peaceful community
10 Dwarf neon rainbows
10 Serpae tetras
8 Panda corys (Panda corys are small, so it means you can have more which means happier corys)

Plan C: Pure awesomeness
25 Mixed Male Platys

Plan D: Cyprinid surprise
8 Cherry barbs (2 Males 6 females)
8 Harlequin rasboras
8 Zebra danios
1 Rainbow shark (Albino or normal)

Any of those take your fancy? They all sound pretty cool.

Platys are brilliant fish... My LFS has a tank with mixed platys, and, you know how they swim at the front all the time? It's like a flashing, shimmering tank of coolness! Great thing is platys are almost indestructible! Your right, pure awesomeness is an understatement. There is also the fascination of collecting all the different Platy strains...
